The NZ native crown fern produces leaves which form a shuttlecock-shaped, upright crown on a small trunk. Makes an attractive groundcover in the dappled shade of trees. Prefers a light damp but well drained soil. Hardy and evergreen.
Require a moist but well drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Water regularly to maintain plant health during hot periods. Add a mulch of organic matter in autumn, prune off any dead growth as required.
