A flamboyant NZ native shrub, taking it's name from the large, pendulous clusters of bright red flowers resembling a Kaka's beak. Spring flowering. Trim regularly to control it's sprawling habit. Watch for caterpillars! Protect from severe frost. Sun to semi-shade. Evergreen.
Plant in a moist but well drained soil, Feed once a year with 12 month food. Watch out for caterpillar infestations and spray if required. Little pruning is required other than occasional form pruning.
