Agave stricta is an evergreen succulent known for its dense, spherical rosettes of slender, rigid leaves. This species forms a compact architectural structure that adds texture and interest to arid or minimalist landscapes.

In summer, mature plants may produce a dramatic, upright flower spike reaching up to 1 metre in height, bearing purplish-red blooms. While visually striking, the sharp foliage warrants caution when handling or placing near walkways.

Well-suited to container planting or dry borders, Agave stricta performs best in full sun with good drainage. It is hardy to cooler climates, including Christchurch and is ideal for water-wise or low-maintenance gardens.
