A tough compact perennial that forms a neat evergreen mound of fine grassy foliage. Stout stems carry globe shaped red flowers in spring and summer that stand out against the dark green tufts and attract bees and butterflies. Trim off old flower stems to encourage repeat flowering.

Attractive in containers or a sunny well drained spot in the garden. Suits rock gardens and gravel plantings or makes a charming low edging along paths and at the front of borders. Drought tolerant once established and happy in poor soils. Also copes well with coastal conditions. Hardy. Evergreen. Avoid heavy wet soils and overwatering.
