A clump-forming perennial, commonly known as Masterwort, prized for its intricate, pincushion-like flower heads surrounded by papery bracts in soft shades of pink. The flowers sit above a mound of deeply lobed, dark green foliage, giving good structure even before blooming begins. Flowers from late spring through to autumn, with a long vase life that makes it excellent for cutting, as well as drying, and it's a reliable draw for bees and other pollinators. Works well in cottage gardens, mixed borders or naturalized drifts, particularly in cooler, moister spots.

Suits sun to part shade in fertile, moisture-retentive soil, and benefits from some afternoon shade in warmer areas. Divide clumps every few years in autumn or spring to keep plants vigorous.
