Dianella nigra is a New Zealand native prized for its striking bright blue berries, which appear in summer following small, inconspicuous white flowers with yellow stamens.

 Ideal for mass plantings, it forms clumps of strappy green foliage that add texture to shaded garden areas. Tolerant of moist or dry conditions with good drainage, hardy and evergreen.
