A gardenia that tolerates colder temperatures than other varieties though it will still need protection from frost. Produces intensely fragrant creamy white flowers in summer on a compact rounded shrub of glossy green foliage that looks attractive all year round. The perfume carries well which makes it a lovely choice near a path or entrance or beside an outdoor living area.

Benefits from an acidic or high iron fertiliser to keep the foliage a rich green and the flowering strong. Happy in a container or a well drained spot in the garden in semi shade. Keep the soil evenly moist through summer but avoid waterlogging and mulch to keep the roots cool. Shelter from cold winds and cover with frost cloth on frosty nights. Evergreen.
