A low-growing, spreading evergreen shrub with fine foliage and masses of burgundy to deep red, toothbrush-like flowers. Flowering is heaviest through winter and spring, with further blooms possible year-round in milder conditions. Its prostrate habit suits banks and slopes, trailing over retaining walls, or as low-maintenance groundcover in coastal and water-wise gardens.

Thrives in full sun with free-draining soil, tolerating sandy or gravelly conditions and dry spells once established, but dislikes heavy, waterlogged ground. Protect from hard frost in colder areas, and lightly prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage fresh growth.
