A small New Zealand native shrub with glossy green foliage and large airy sprays of lilac flowers in spring. The leaves often carry a fine reddish edge that adds interest through the rest of the year and the flowers attract bees and butterflies. A beautiful feature plant when in full bloom.

Trim after flowering to encourage a compact habit. Happy in coastal locations and well suited to rock gardens and sunny banks or containers on a patio. Prefers an open situation with plenty of air movement. Requires good drainage in sun to semi-shade. Evergreen. Hardy.
