Metrosideros carminea commonly known as Climbing Rātā, is a spectacular New Zealand native vine admired for its brilliant crimson-red flowers that appear in spring.

This vigorous climber uses clinging roots to attach to surfaces and features small, deep green rounded leaves that mature into more oval shapes as the woody stems reach the light. Prefers semi-shade, consistently moist but well-drained soil and protection from frost. Ideal for covering fences, trellises or tree trunks in sheltered native or woodland style gardens.
