Pachystegia rufa is a low growing evergreen shrub native to New Zealand, closely related to the more commonly known Pachystegia insignis. It shares the same bold form and leathery foliage but is distinguished by its unique rusty-brown on the undersides of its leaves, giving it added texture and colour contrast year-round.

In summer large, white daisy like flowers emerge creating a bold display above the foliage. Well suited to rock gardens, dry banks or coastal landscapes, this hardy native thrives in full sun and prefers good drainage to perform at its best.

Robust and architectural, Pachystegia rufa is perfect for gardeners seeking a resilient, visually interesting New Zealand native with both seasonal appeal and year-round structure.
