Low Maintenance

Lachenalia purpureo-caerulea is a rare and captivating winter-flowering bulb native to South Africa, treasured for both its exquisite fragrance and delicate beauty. This compact species features green textured leaves that add unique texture, while its slender stems bear beautifully scented, tubular flowers in shades of purple and white.

Blooming during the cooler months, it brings elegant colour and fragrance to rockeries, alpine beds or containers when much of the garden is dormant. Best grown in a sheltered, frost-free position with full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil.

Like many Lachenalia species, it is summer dormant and requires minimal care when not in active growth. An excellent choice for collectors and those seeking rare winter interest.
