The iconic Metrosideros excelsa, commonly known as Pōhutukawa, is one of New Zealand’s most beloved native trees. Renowned for its brilliant display of crimson-red flowers in summer, it provides a striking focal point and is a magnet for birds and pollinators.

Over time, it develops into a magnificent, wide spreading evergreen tree with gnarled branches and silver-green foliage. Thrives in full sun with good drainage and is well-suited to coastal locations. Can also be grown in large containers when young. Protect from frost when establishing.
